OCALA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - When Ocala Police rolled up to a stoplight, there was Maurias Hutchinson standing in the road.
As soon as they shined a spotlight on him, he started running at the cop car.
“Let me see your hands!” the officer yelled at Hutchinson. “Put your hands on the hood of my car now! Put your hands on the hood of my car!” He said.
Another officer's body cam shows the takedown.
“Get your hands...! Get down! What is wrong with you?!” he asked, “Get your hands behind your back!”
Cops were called there in the first place because Hutchinson was pulling the same wild stunts on other drivers who were just sitting at the red light.
Surveillance video showed him throwing himself on the hood, and then witnesses say he fired a gun.
“We don't know what the motivation was,” said Ocala Police Spokeswoman Meghan Shay. “I think it's just apparent that he was under the influence of some pretty serious substances that led to his dangerous behavior.”
Police say Hutchinson was so violent that they didn’t want to take his handcuffs off, even for a second.
“No, I'm not un-handcuffing him,” an officer said on video during the incident, “not with the way we just had to fight him. Figure out a way to do it.”
Even though cops say Hutchinson was high on drugs, he was still sober enough to toss the gun when police showed up.
They found it not too far away.
Hutchinson has a long rap sheet already.
Now, he's charged with attempted murder and drug possession.
