A dog shot and killed in an Orlando neighborhood.

The man taking responsibility for the shooting said it all started when his dog ran across the street toward another dog.

The man, who doesn't want to be identified, said his 2-year-old terrier, named Prince, was picked up by the larger dog, who started shaking him.

The owner of the smaller animal said he told the other dog's owner to get control of their dog or he was going to kill the animal.

The man told Fox 35 he shot the larger dog four times before the animal stopped attacking.

He says he has a permit to carry a concealed handgun.

He was given a $10 citation from animal control for not having his dog on a leash.

City officials say he won't have to pay the fine because his dog died.

The man told Fox 35 his dog had internal bleeding and that the dog's ribs were broken, along with the dog's back.
