Man accused of making homemade pipe bomb that rocketed into neighbor's yard

An Orange City man was arrested after Volusia County deputies say he made a homemade pipe bomb that rocketed into his neighbor's yard.

Deputies say it happened on Liskeard Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

In a news release, deputies say a woman was working in her backyard when she heard a loud hissing noise and saw white smoke as something flew into her yard.

They say when she went to go look, she found found a metal pipe capped at both ends that was hot to the touch.

Deputies who responded to the scene notified the Volusia County Sheriff's Office bomb squad.

They say their investigation led them to Christopher Green, 25, who they say admitted to using stump remover mixed with sugar to make smoke bombs.

Investigators say they found a video posted on Green's Facebook page showing him creating a pasty substance in a pot on his kitchen stove.

In the video, deputies say Green then went outside and lit the pipe with the substance, causing it to take flight a few seconds later.

In a news release, deputies said Green was taken to the Volusia County Jail, where he was later released after posting $10,000 bail.
