Local leaders are coming together Wednesday in the war on drugs including one of Orlando's top real estate moguls.
Timeshare mogul David Siegel has been very vocal about the drug overdose epidemic since his own daughter died from one earlier this year.
“I'm going to put schools in a very delicate situation because if they, you know, if they say they're not going to do it, they are saying they are condoning drug use in the schools because there is no reason why the schools shouldn't put random drug testing in,” said Siegel.
Organizers say the taskforce will discuss solutions like more drug treatment, and prevention efforts in schools.
Mayor Teresa Jacobs and Sheriff Jerry Demings chaired the first meeting.
The task force will continue to meet over the next six months to try and develop solutions.
The meeting begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Orange County Administration Building.
