Life-threatening rip currents possible in Volusia and Brevard Counties

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The National Weather Service said there is a high risk of strong rip currents until 5 p.m., Sunday.

Officials said weather and ocean conditions could produce life-threatening rip currents in the surf zones in Volusia and Brevard Counties.

With the risk so high, officials are telling people to swim only near lifeguards, stay in the water to their knees or consider staying out of the surf completely.
