Leesburg restaurant feeds homeless for Christmas

Staff at a Leesburg restaurant spent their Christmas feeding people in need.

The team at Ramshackle Café cooked 85 meals and distributed them in the restaurant parking lot until noon.

The event was put on entirely by employees rather than the restaurant owners.

Robert Bryant, who spearheaded the effort, said he hopes it will show love to people in need.

“I’m hoping that they know somebody out there cares about them,” he said.

Thomas ‘Cowboy’ Hoard, who received one of the meals, was grateful.

After falling on hard times, he said the gesture was appreciated.

“It’s kind of hard when you have no work. I don’t like to go out there and panhandle, it’s not my MO, I like to work,” he said. “It feels good. It feels great that I can go somewhere to eat.”

This is the staff’s eighth consecutive year feeding homeless people in the community on Christmas.
