Lake Co. teachers want more lesson planning time

Teachers from around Florida are in Tallahassee Thursday to rally for changes.
Lake County teachers are there, too and they have a specific demand.
They filed a federal complaint to get more time to prepare their lessons because they say they are overwhelmed because of new state and county standards.
They argue, they do not get planning time as mandated in their contract, and they are taking a lot of work home.
The Lake County School Board recently dismissed the teachers' grievance and claims the district is complying with the contracts.
The district says it is willing to work with teachers to find a reasonable common ground.
The teachers say they expect to hear from the federal government about their request for arbitration on the planning period any day now.
