Maitland Police investigate Jewish Community Center bomb threat

- Maitland Police are patrolling the Jewish Community Center after a bomb threat was called in Tuesday.
"Make sure there's no suspicious vehicles and things like that," said Lt Louis Grindle.

Officers are keeping a close eye on the Jewish Community Center after someone called in with a bomb threat at the Jewish Academy that's located on property.

"They began evacuating all the staff and students," he said. They contacted the Jewish Community Center and preschool, and they all were evacuated."

Officers and bomb-sniffing dogs searched the area, but found nothing.

Earlier today, authorities in Palm Beach Gardens received a similar bomb threat at a Jewish Community Center and neighboring academy.

"I believe they already reached out to us to see if it's the same thing," Lt. Louis Grindle said. "I know there have been similar ones today."

But, determining whether this was a serious threat or just a prank is challenging.

"It could be someone who's trying to make the threat and scare people," he said. "It could be a student from somewhere, sometimes when they don't want to go to school that's what the big thing was bomb threats."

Anyone with information on the bomb threat is asked to call the Maitland Police Department.
