NAPLES, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Florida Governor Rick Scott has reassigned the case against the man accused of killing two Kissimmee Police officers.
The case legally falls in State Attorney Aramis Ayala's jurisdiction.
But now, Scott has reassigned prosecution of the suspect, Everette Glenn Miller, to State Attorney Brad King.
Miller is accused of gunning down Officer Matthew Baxter and Sergeant Richard Howard Friday night before they could even draw their weapons.
Scott's decision was made after State Attorney Ayala announced earlier this year that she would not pursue the death penalty in any case assigned to her.
Governor Scott says he made the decision to ensure the families of the victims get the justice they deserve.
