Fundraiser to be held for off-duty firefighter who aided stabbing victim

- Firefighters from all over Central Florida will come together Saturday afternoon to support a local firefighter who risked her life to try and save a woman who was stabbed outside a Lake Mary restaurant in April.

Caroline Dorton was off-duty and eating at a Chili's with her fiancé on April 17, when a man stabbed his estranged wife in the parking lot. Dorton ran out to help the woman, but she was run over by the husband, investigators say. The woman Dorton was attempting to save eventually died at the hospital.

On Saturday, the Orange City Police Department and Fire Department will host a poker run and a pumper pull to help Dorton with her medical bills and everyday expenses.

The Orange City Police Department Poker Run starts at 11am at Critters Pub and ends at The Barn in Sanford with the pumper pull. The pumper pull event starts at 4pm.

Any questions can be directed to firefighter Kristin Campbell 407-947-8410.
