FHP: Woman fleeing traffic stop hit by patrol cruiser

- A woman is in the hospital after she fled from a traffic stop and was accidentally struck by a trooper patrol cruiser, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 1 a.m. a trooper was attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a car that was allegedly going 71 in a 45 mph  hour zone in Volusia County. The incident took place near Lake Charles and Kepler Road in DeLand.

As FHP stopped the speeding car, the passenger, 22-year-old Amy Kuehn, jumped out of the vehicle and started running.

She fell and a trooper arriving to the scene hit her with his marked patrol car, according to FHP spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes. Amy Kuehn's condition is listed as critical.

The driver, 46-year-old Aaron Kuehn, was arrested suspicion of DUI and booked into the Volusia County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.
