Father of teen shot asks public for help finding killer

Orlando Police are searching for the person who shot and killed a teenager. Now the teen's father is speaking out.

"Any father or mother, that's been grieving the loss of a child, we just want to know."

Robert Payne Senior says he got the call on Monday night that his son, Robert Payne Junior was shot and killed.

"It devastated me."

Police say they found 18 year old Robert lying on the sidewalk of West Grand Street at around 7:15 on Monday night. Rescuers tried to revive him but he died at the scene. Investigators aren't sure if it was a random shooting.

Robert Senior hopes to get answers soon. He says his son was attending a Charter School which is around 2 miles from where he was found dead, "Sometimes you get caught up doing things that are not becoming of you and he was telling me he was trying to change and get his life together and this happened. He was a bright young man, he could bring a smile out of you anyway he could. He had a loving heart."

He misses his son dearly, "I just wish that I could tell him one more time that I love him and he could tell me that he loved me."

He sobs in sorrow, hoping to see the violence stop. "In these days and times, with all the things happening in this world with the random shootings and the terrorist attacks we all need come together and love on our children and love one another no matter what."

As police try to find out what happened, Robert is asking witnesses to call in with information. He also has a message for the person responsible for the death of his son, "I just pray that you turn yourself in."

Anyone with information on Robert's death is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
