ORANGE CO, Fla.
Law enforcement is investigating two drive-by shootings that occurred Monday in Orlando. It’s unclear if the shootings are connected but one woman was shot in the second shooting. The first incident happened on Kirkman and International Drive at 3:30am. No one was hurt in that shooting and the Orlando Police Department is investigating.
The second shooting occurred around 5:30am on Pine Hills and Balboa. Residents thought they woke up to fireworks this morning.
“I heard pow! I thought the light went off. I didn’t hear anything more,” said a resident Alidth Madden.
Orange County deputies a woman shot driving a Nissan Altima was shot once as she was on her way to work this morning.
"Our initial investigation, what we’ve determined so far, she advises that she was driving west bound on Balboa towards Pine Hills when a white vehicle opened fired on her,” said Sergeant Melvin Huggins with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
FOX35 News spotted at least 2 bullet holes in the victim’s windshield but again deputies said she was shot once. In fact, investigators said she kept driving after she was shot.
“The location where the vehicle is stopped is not where the vehicle was hit. Once again, that part of it is still under investigation,” said Sgt. Huggins.
Knowing a drive by shooting happened so close to home, some residents were on edge.
“I’m so scared. I hope she makes a speedy recovery. I walk here every morning to work,” said Madden.
Deputies said it was too dark when the shooting happened and the woman couldn’t get a good look at her shooter. They’re looking into street cameras and interviewing any witnesses to track down the gunman. Deputies have not released the name of the victim. She remains in stable condition at ORMC.
