Deputies: Woman critically shot after fight with boyfriend in Deltona

Volusia County deputies said a woman was shot after a fight in Deltona early Sunday morning.
Deputies said they were called to a home on Michael Avenue around 12:30 a.m. after a woman, later identified as 37-year-old Terra Wilcox, reported that her boyfriend smashed out the windshield of her car with a chainsaw, choked her, then threatened her with a gun.
Wilcox walked away from the home to call 911 and while on the phone with dispatchers, she started screaming that her boyfriend was coming at her with a gun, deputies said.
The sound of gunfire could be heard and Wilcox said she had been shot.  When deputies arrived, they said they found her in the street bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds.
Wilcox was taken to Central Florida Regional hospital where she was last listed in critical condition.
Deputies said while they were searching for the shooter, later identified as 35-year-old Earl Pallasch, they heard a shot fired in their direction.  It was unknown where the shot was fired from and no one saw a shooter.
While searching a wooded area near the house, deputies came across the body Pallasch who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a shot gun laying next to him.  Deputies said Pallasch was the man who shot Wilcox.
