ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A man was shot outside of an Orlando-area Best Buy late Monday morning. Orange County deputies said two men were fighting outside the store, located on Orange Blossom Trail near the Florida Mall, when one of them shot the other in the leg just after 11 a.m.
“He fell to the ground and he was screaming, ‘Oh my goodness, I got shot! I got shot! He shot me,’” said witness Kevin Sutton. “I just heard the shot and ran through and saw him fall to the ground and made sure I helped him.”
Sutton, a local radio host, is camping in front of the Best Buy for 33 days before Black Friday to collect canned food for the homeless. Sutton said he heard the fighting before the shot, which sounded like a heated argument about money. Deputies said they found what appeared to be drugs at the scene. After the shooting, the gunman immediately took off, leaving the victim bleeding on the sidewalk.
“When I found the wound, I asked people to bring me some water, took my shirt off to put pressure on it, got the water, cleaned it off so he doesn’t get an infection,” Sutton recalled.
The man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment of that gunshot wound but is expected to live. Deputies are still looking for the suspect.
