1 dead, 1 injured in Orlando shooting

- One man was killed and another injured in an early morning shooting in South Orlando.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office says Christian Santiago, 32, died after they brought him to Orlando Regional Medical Center. The second victim, a 33-year-old Hispanic man, is also at ORMC in stable condition.

Deputies scoured the crime scene, combing the sidewalk and grass along Orange Blossom Trail for evidence on Sunday morning. They also hauled away a dark-colored sedan from a nearby parking lot. The shooting happened near the intersection of Holden Avenue and Orange Blossom Trail around 3:53 a.m.

People living in this South Orlando neighborhood worry it's gotten more violent. Longtime residents say it didn't used to be that way.

"I see a lot of shooting and drug activities," said a woman who only identified herself as Edie. "It's crazy. The world is going nuts."

Some people who just moved to the area try to stay off the streets at certain times.

"Most of the time I try not to really walk around unless it's during the daytime," said Thanikqua Thompson. "I'm not really out at night, so that's my way of being careful."

Deputies are asking for the public's for help, offering up to $5,000 for information in this case. They urge anyone who knows more about the deadly shooting to call the Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
