DELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Early Wednesday morning, DeLand High School was badly vandalized. Windows, lockers and computers were destroyed.
DeLand Police say suspects can been seen on surveillance videos using hammers to smash windows and lockers.
Student David Sosa said it was a mess this morning. ”There were computers smashed, broken, some were missing over by the ROTC program there was a golf cart that was driven through the fence,” he said.
School spokeswoman Nancy Wait says more than one person broke in overnight and used hammers to smash things. It's so bad 200 out of the schools 2500 students now have to work out of the gym and auditorium for a few days.
Wait said, “They hit several of our interior hallways, breaking windows in classroom doors as well as some other glass and doors around the school."
DeLand Police are going through the video surveillance and say they will likely release some of it Thursday.
