DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.
Daytona Beach Police said Abbie Kinney hit 4 people and 6 motor homes early Saturday morning in the infield of the Daytona International Speedway.
AJ Maddox said he is one of the four people hit.
"I got lucky. I really did. I don't know how I'm standing here right now. If I had been standing a foot to the left or the right, who knows," He told Fox 35's David Williams.
Maddox, 24, said he was right in the infield of the Daytona International Speedway's events, just having a good time with friends, when a woman barreled down the street slamming into the RVs where they were sitting.
"We tried to scatter as best we could, but two of our best friends got hit. Myself, I had to duck underneath this RV here," Maddox explained.
Dusty, who was there too, sent Fox 35 photos of the immediate damage Saturday morning.
Investigators said four witnesses told them they watched Kinney crash her vehicle into 4 people and 6 motor homes.
Maddox is one of the four people hit.
"I'm alright," He said "My backs a little sore. I got tossed around pretty good after I got hit."
Maddox said his friend broke his leg when he was hit, and is in the hospital, recovering from surgery. Another man who was with Maddox said he was injured as well. He had a bandage wrapped around his hand, but did not want to speak to Fox 35.
"We heard a loud bang behind us, as soon as we turned around, she was on top of us," Maddox explained.
Investigators said Kinney admitted to drinking three beers and had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. Kinney was arrested.
Maddox said "She's in jail. So, hopefully she'll learn from that."
Maddox added "We are lucky to be alive. Hopefully she realizes that."
After causing all of this damage investigators say Kinney is facing several charges including DUI.
