DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - On Wednesday night the city of Daytona Beach voted to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana. The city council unanimously approved the ordinance and will go in effect immediately.
The ordinance states if officers find less than 20 grams of marijuana on someone they can give them a ticket instead of arresting them.
At the same meeting the Daytona Beach City Council passed new rules for bar owners. They say in order to help cut down on crime bars now need to staff their own security, provide surveillance cameras, and work with police or they will have to shut down early.
