CLERMONT, Fla. - The City of Clermont is honoring one of its own killed in the Pulse shooting.
Stanley Almodovar III had lived in Clermont for years and graduated from East Ridge High School.
The Mayor and City Council have decided to name June 28 “Stanley Almodovar III Day.”
The Mayor will make a special proclamation at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.
The proclamation reads in part, “Stanley Almodovar III heroically saved lives on June 12 by shielding others at Pulse night club and putting himself in harm's way, ultimately sacrificing his life; Now, Therefore, the City of Clermont does hereby proclaim June 28, 2016 as Stanley Almodovar III Day.”
The proclamation also condemns the attack and offers condolences to all the victims, their families, and their friends.
The special proclamation will be signed Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Clermont City Council Chambers at 685 W. Montrose St. in Clermont.
