Police: Robbery and chase leads to serious crash involving patrol car

A patrol car was involved in a serious crash early Thursday morning following a chase of suspected robbers. The accident occurred on Orange Blossom Trail at Holden Avenue in Orange County. 
Ocoee Police say the incident started with a robbery in Altamonte Springs. 2 suspects fled the scene when police spotted the vehicle in Ocoee. Ocoee Police say the suspects then led officers on a chase before the patrol car was involved in a serious crash. 
According to the Ocoee Police Department the unit was northbound on OBT taking police action (sirens, lights). The patrol car then entered the intersection during a red light when a Toyota, an innocent bystander, was traveling eastbound on Holden Avenue and the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Both drivers where transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, but according to authorities, nothing life-threatening. 
Altamonte Springs Police say two armed robberies occurred in Altamonte Springs within 5 minutes of one another. The first at Kiwi's Pub and Grill and then over at Bobby G's, both off State Road 436.  The two black male suspects are still on the run. 
Lanes began to reopen around 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning after both lanes were shut down during the initial phase of the investigation.
