Bill would allow travelers to carry guns at airport

A pair of identical bills filed Thursday in the Florida House and Senate would allow people with licenses to carry concealed weapons to carry guns at Florida airports.

Sen. Wilton Simpson, ( R)-Trilby, and Rep. Jake Raburn, ( R)-Lithia, filed Senate Bill 1500 and House Bill 4051, respectively.

Currently, people with licenses to carry concealed weapons are not allowed to carry guns in airport terminals.

The bills would allow properly licensed gun owners to carry their concealed weapons up to Transportation Security Administration checkpoints.

The bills will be among those for lawmakers to consider when the 2016 Legislative Session begins next week.
