COCOA, Fla (WOFL FOX 35) - Cocoa Police are now saying someone intentionally set an apartment complex on fire that left dozens of people without their homes.
The fire is being investigated as arson as the incident occurred just after 1 a.m. Wednesday at the Village Green Apartments in Cocoa.
Body camera video shows two police officers rushing in before firefighters arrived. The officers were concerned because people told them a woman was trapped inside, which turned out to not be the case.
Firefighters arrived shortly after and saved what they could. A police officer, a firefighter and another person were all taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire caused at least $250,000 in damage and forced 29 people to find new places to live.
Investigators believe a woman who lives in that complex started the fire, but they are not releasing any more details.
