Annual holiday giveaway hopes to combat Pine Hills crime

- The Experience Christian Center will be holding their annual toy giveaway and job fair in hopes of combating crime in the Pine Hills area, Saturday.

The church said this is a free event that is open to the public starting at 9 a.m., Saturday at Meadowbrook Middle School at 6000 North Lane, which is an area that has seen an increase in gun violence recently.

"Every year my vision is to add new services that are needed for the community while expanding our reach to residents of Central, Florida. This year we have added a job fair that's designed to curb criminal activity in this area and provide hope to those seeking outlets that may be causing harm to the neighborhood. Last year's event served well over 5,000 individuals and we are aggressively preparing to serve more this year," said Pastor Derrick L. McRae, Senior Pastor of The Experience Christian Center.

The pastor said they will be giving away toys to children and offering services such as clothing, haircuts, a hot meal and groceries for those in need.

This is the seventh year the community giveaway will be happening said Pastor McRae.
