Deputies say a manhunt in Volusia County has come to a deadly end after a suspect allegedly shot a woman and a K9.
Officials say this all happened at a home on Buttonwood Avenue in Deltona.
Detectives tell FOX35 a 5 and 15 year old were inside when a 39-year-old man allegedly shot his girlfriend twice inside this house.
Investigators say the suspect then shot a Volusia County Sheriff K9 in the neck as he got away in the woods.
Officials say everything stemmed from a domestic dispute in a home on Buttonwood Avenue.
Investigators say a 911 call came in just passed 11:00 p.m. about a disturbance at this home.
When deputies arrived to the house they say they heard gun shots. They say the man shot his girlfriend in the arm and on her side.
Deputies released the K9 to stop the suspect buy detectives say the man shot the dog.
Deputies did not return fire and say the man hopped over some bushes and disappeared into some nearby woods.
There was a short man hunt and with the help of a helicopter from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office they spotted the gunman but by the time deputies got to him it was too late.
Officials say the suspect was found dead, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The victim is still recovering in the hospital, she’s expected to be ok and so is the police dog.
Deputies are notifying the next of kin so they have not released the suspect’s name.
Officials say the two children that were inside the home are now staying with their grandmother.
