LAKE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The accused gunman in a shooting on the Florida Turnpike turns himself in... sort of.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office says Kwanza Donald came to them to give them information about the shooting.
On Saturday morning, troopers say two people inside a red Chevy Impala were shot by Donald, who was driving a Toyota Camry, on the southbound lanes just before exit 272 in Lake County.
Troopers say toll cameras captured the Camry's tag number and they traced it back to Donald.
Before that, Donald walked into the Orange County Sheriff's Office, where deputies say he confessed and explained that someone from Houston, Texas, was trying to kill him.
Donald said he was driving his car back from Texas when someone started shooting at him.
He told troopers he was trying to defend himself and fired his own gun.
Troopers said Donald also blames being tired, hungry and dehydrated for the shooting.
Donald told troopers that he only fired three rounds, but troopers found 12 rounds in the side of the Chevy Impala.
The two victims in the shooting are recovering.
