ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Students at local universities and colleges are coming together to show their support for the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks.
UCF students will stand with Paris Monday morning with a banner signing planned at 11 am at the Student Union.
Two students from UCF are part of a business exchange program in France about 3.5 hours away from Paris.
They’re the only students from UCF in France and they are both safe.
Administrators from Rollins College also confirm four of their students are currently studying abroad in Paris and are all safe.
Rollins College grad student Alexandra Dupont is originally from Paris, and her parents were in Paris on Friday.
“They were having dinner at the terrace outside and they saw numerous police cars driving by as well as fire trucks, and then people started getting up I think people just reached out to their phone instantly with Internet and they were just looking and they directly understood what was happening and since it was so close everyone asked for their tabs,” said Dupont.
Her parents were able to reach out to Dupont shortly after to assure her they were safe.
At 6:30 pm Monday night, the parents of slain journalist and former UCF student Steven Sotloff will be on UCF’s campus to speak to a journalism class.
Sotloff was killed by ISIS last year.
