2 young sisters killed, 4 others hurt in head-on crash

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that killed two young girls.

The crash happened on Markham Road and Sandy Lane in Sanford on Sunday.

Troopers say two cars crashed head-on.

The two children killed in the crash have been identified as sisters between 7 and 13 years old.

Troopers say they weren't wearing seatbelts.

Troopers say two other children who were riding in the same car as the two girls who died were taken to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital with serious injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the drivers of both cars were listed in serious condition.

Charges are pending against Sabrina Patel, 24, who troopers say caused the crash after drifting out of her lane and into oncoming traffic.
