13-year-old boy recovering after shooting in Orange Co. McDonald's parking lot

A 13 year old boy is recovering after being grazed by a bullet while sitting in a car Tuesday night.  Orange County sheriff's deputies said the shooting happened around 11 p.m. on Hiawassee Road.  The suspect remains at-large, investigators tell FOX 35.
Frank Cedeno was getting off work about the time of the shooting.  He knew something was wrong when looked over at a McDonald's parking lot off Silver Star Road in Ocoee. "I saw like 20 cop cars surround one car and the cops just kept coming. Ambulance, fire truck."

"They came on scene and accessed some patients inside a vehicle," explained Ocoee EMS Lt. Tom Smothers.  He said they were called to assist a mother and three teenaged kids, who happened to stop in the parking lot for help after the shooting.  "The occupants in the vehicle had an argument with another vehicle. As they were heading west toward Ocoee, sometime [between] the two points, the gunshots were fired."

Orange County deputies said the teen's mother got into an argument with another woman, three miles away near Pine Hills and Silver Star roads. After the mother and kids drove off, officers said a man followed her along with a third car, then started shooting into the vehicle, hitting her 13-year-old son in the leg.

"He had a minor abrasion to his leg," said Lt. Tom Smothers, "so we had him placed in the ambulance to do patient care with him as we checked the remaining occupants in the vehicle to find out no one else was injured in the vehicle."

Investigators said the suspect has dreadlocks and was driving a blue, four-door sedan.  Deputies haven't released the name of the victim. Anyone with information on the suspect should call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
