Is McDonald's adding its Stroopwafel McFlurry and other “Worldwide Favorites” to the American menu? A new report this week suggests the fast-food chain is bringing some of its most popular international items stateside.

Business Insider reports that McDonald's is adding four of its biggest hits around the world to its American menu beginning in early June, citing internal documents shared to the website.

According to the report, the new menu items are the Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger from Spain, the Stroopwafel McFlurry from the Netherlands, the tomato-mozzarella chicken sandwich from Canada and the cheesy bacon fries from Australia.

The Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger is a beef quarter-pound burger topped with McBacon sauce, applewood smoked bacon, Gouda cheese and slivered onions on a sesame seed bun. The Stroopwafel McFlurry is made up of vanilla soft-serve ice cream mixed with caramel waffle cookie pieces and caramel sauce.

The tomato and mozzarella crispy chicken sandwich is made with a “Canadian grain-fed seasoned chicken breast,” red onions, lettuce, tomato, mozzarella and a tomato & herb sauce on a brioche-style bun. The cheesy bacon fries may be similar to the limited-time menu item rolled out earlier this year, featuring McDonald's fries topped with cheddar cheese and smoked bacon bits.

In an email to FOX Television Stations seeking comment on the report, a McDonald's representative responded with “Geen commentaar,” which translates to “no comment” in Dutch.

While McDonald's didn't officially confirm the Stroopwafel McFlurry and other international favorites coming to the U.S. menu, any true fan of the stroopwafel knows that the waffle cookie is perhaps the best-known of all Dutch treats.

The fast-food giant previously tested its Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger and the Stroopwafel McFlurry, among other international items, at 50 locations across South Florida in 2018.

McDonald's has locations in more than 100 countries, and the company says it tries to adapt its menu to reflect different tastes and local cuisine for every country in which it has restaurants.

“We're keen to respect cultural differences and so every country has its own policy of developing menu items,” McDonald's says on its website.

McDonald's announced last week that the chain is ending its “Signature Crafted” burger line this year as the company focuses on providing fresh beef options to its customers.

Citing the internal documents, Business Insider reports the company is cutting the line in part because it wants to “reduce the number of products in restaurants,” and the “Worldwide Favorites” will hit the menu around the same time the “Signature Crafted” line disappears.
