TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - On Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his wife, First Lady Casey DeSantis, brought their children, Madison and Mason, to a work day event at the Florida Capitol.
More than 500 children were welcomed at the Capitol, as Thursday was 'Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.' They toured over a dozen exhibits from a variety of organizations while participating in interactive activities and learning about the career options available to them in Florida.
“As Chair of the Children and Youth Cabinet, I am excited to join state leaders, students and parents to celebrate the different career paths available to our children,” said First Lady Casey DeSantis. “We are blessed to live in a state where there are many options to receive a high-quality education. The Governor and I are working hard to ensure these kids and children across the state can attend the schools and explore career opportunities that are the best fit for them.”
Thursday's career exploration event was hosted by the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). They hold the event annually as part of the 'Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day' nationwide initiative.
“Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day provides Florida’s future workforce a fun way to explore careers while showcasing the importance of education and training to prepare for great jobs and a bright future," said President and CEO of CareerSource Florida Michelle Dennard.
