Alligator steals catch away from Central Florida fisherman

HAINES CREEK, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A Central Florida fisherman caught quite the fish -- but an alligator gator wanted it more. 

John Shafer and his wife were fishing on a dock in Haines Creek. This is a hobby he does often and he usually just catches and releases. John caught quite the fish on Sunday, but a gator got the 'catch' part before John could.

Cell phone video shows John reeling the fish in when a gator swims by and tries to grab the fish away. The fish however is still on the line, so the gator comes back and second time and really sinks his teeth in. The gator grabs the fish so hard, that it snaps John's fishing line.
