Bogin, Munns & Munns Receives Hunger Hero Award

ORLANDO - In recognition of its efforts to provide much-needed relief to Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria, Central Florida law firm Bogin, Munns & Munns is a proud recipient of the Hunger Hero Award!

Winners were announced at the 2nd Annual Hunger Hero Awards ceremony, held at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.  On hand to accept the award on behalf of the firm was BMM Senior Partner Spencer Munns, along with his lovely wife, Lindsey.  The law firm received the Extraordinary Response in Disaster Relief Award and was heralded for its commitment to fighting hunger.  Mr. Munns commented,

I was happy to accept this award on my dad’s behalf.  My parents have been committed to helping others their entire lives, and it is no surprise that they stepped forward to help in any way possible during the disaster relief efforts last fall.

The Hunger Hero Awards are presented by the Central Florida-based charity, Feeding Children Everywhere.  Last October, the firm took part in FCE's “Hope for Puerto Rico” meal donation event.

Founding Partner Rulon Munns was involved with the event from its inception, volunteering his own time within the expansive hall where thousands of Floridians would ultimately box up over 4.4 million meal kits for survivors of Hurricane Maria.  Employees of the firm were strongly encouraged to participate in the relief efforts, and were even granted the opportunity to volunteer during their workday.  Throughout the days of the event, BMM staff could be found wearing their company polos and packing boxes of non-perishable food items to be shipped to those in need.  When informed of the law firm’s selection as winner, Rulon Munns responded,

I was surprised by this award and am very thankful for it.  I have several employees at my firm that were impacted either directly or with their families in Puerto Rico by the hurricanes.  I strongly felt a need to do something to help!  I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Feeding Children Everywhere.  Even my grandchildren enjoyed volunteering their time.  It was about being able to do something to help in a time when many felt helpless to aid so many in need.

Bogin, Munns & Munns has a long history of involvement within the community, working side-by-side with local charities including the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Child Advocacy Center, as well as hosting an annual Toys for Tots toy drive.

Past recipients of the Hunger Hero Award include the Orlando Magic, Stetson University, and the Miami Dolphins.
